When To Start Applying For High School

The Basic Education Department encourages parents not to wait until the last minute to apply for admission as their child may not get a place in the school of their choice.

When applying for admission into High School, parents are required to upload the following documents:

  • Certified copy of child’s ID/birth certificate
  • Transfer card/letter from the previous school
  • Last school report
  • Study permit issued by the Department of Home Affairs for non-South African citizens.

Once parents have completed the application, they will receive the outcome of the application via email or SMS.

Parents will then be required to confirm acceptance to whichever school they were eligible for.

It is very important for parents to adhere to the dates for school admission to minimise disruptions at schools when the academic year begins.
