There are just a number of days until the 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations get underway in South Africa. Several measures are being put in place to ensure learners are ready for the crucial examination season.

Matric Exam Support Available To Learners

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) will run a spring school programme during the upcoming holiday, with around 23,000 learners expected to attend the programme.

This will form part of the provincial education department’s efforts to assist learners in preparing for the upcoming Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations. This is the crucial exam period just over a month away.

The WCED has also distributed revision packs to matriculants in the province to aid their preparation for the 2022 Matic exams. The resource pack contains past exam papers and memos, study tips, post-matric advice and the pass requirements.

“It also provides candidates and their parents with all the details on when and how the results will be released, the dates for remark and rechecks applications, and how to apply for supplementary exams after receiving their results if they would like to improve their marks,” added the WCED.

Learners are encouraged to visit the WCED’s ePortal which contains around 8,000 matric-specific resources including revision guilds, videos, and marking guides. Approximately 185,000 unique users previously accessed the online portal to access these resources.

The WCED revealed that social workers were deployed to residential camps to ensure that learners have access to psycho-social support should they require it.

Learners are encouraged to approach teachers for help if they feel they are struggling to cope with the stress associated with the upcoming exam. They can also call the Safe Schools hotline for support on 0800 45 46 47. Calling the Safe Schools number is free of charge.
