“Those approved but not yet paid are those whose records are outstanding bank accounts or bank accounts provided failed bank account verification or bank accounts pending verification from National Treasury.”

Sassa encourages these individuals to provide them with their bank details or update their bank details which can be done on the Sassa Social Relief of Distress (SRD) website. Beneficiaries are reminded that new bank details will only be used for future payments after it has been verified.

How To Change your Banking Details for SRD Grant:

  1. Click here to visit the SRD website.
  2. Scroll to “How do I change my banking details”.
  3. Enter your ID Number.
  4. An SMS containing a secure link, unique to you, will be sent to the mobile phone number with which you registered during the application.
  5. Click on the link in the SMS.
  6. Follow the instructions carefully.

Applicants are reminded that they should only provide their own banking details because their grants will not be paid into another person’s bank account. Sassa advises applicants to adhere to this rule because they need to ensure that the grant is paid to the correct person and avoid fraudulent activities.

It is also advised that beneficiaries do not update their bank details frequently on the SRD website because it will require multiple verification processes for those details. Frequent updates of bank details also delay grant payments to the beneficiary.

Sassa recommends that grant recipients or applicants open bank accounts with their preferred bank of choice as it will enable them to take charge of accessing their grant payment instead of someone else doing it on their behalf. Choosing a bank they trust and know also makes retrieving their grant payments so much easier.

Applicants are reminded that they can track their SRD grant appeal on the SRD website. If they are successful, they should receive a notification of when their grant will be available for collection.
