Gauteng School Applications To Open In A Month From Now

Parents in the Gauteng province are encouraged to prepare for the 2023 Online Admissions application period for Grade 1 and Grade 8 which will begin on 22 July 2022 at 8am and close on 19 August 2022.

The Gauteng Education Department (GDE) makes use of the Online Schools Admissions system for school applications and the department has stated that the system has been improved for all schools to remain open and accesible for applications throughout the period.

In 2022, the department received a total of 347 216 applications for Grade 1 and 8 placements at schools in the province.

The GDE has encouraged parents to save the date so that they apply on time and secure space for their children for the 2023 academic year.

• Parent and Child ID or Passport or Refugee Permit or asylum Seeker Permit or Permanent Residence Permit or Study Permit

1. Registration of Parent/Guardian Details
2. Registration of Home Address Details
3. Registration of Learners Details
4. Parents must apply to a minimum of 3 schools and a maximum of 5 schools
5. Parents must ensure they have certified copies of the all the required documentation and upload them to the system or submit them physically to the schools they chose when applying

Parents are urged to submit the required certified documents to the system or submit them physically only to the schools chosen within 7 days of applying.
