In a statement, the Assessment Agency’s CEO Anne Oberholzer praised this year’s cohort for performing well in the exams:

”The performance of the 2022 cohort of students has been outstanding”.

This comes after turbulent times for the education sector, with some experts highlighting that the 2022 cohort of learners was hardest hit by the impact of the pandemic when the pandemic broke out in 2020 while they were in their Grade 10 year.

Oberholzer has also explained that various strategies were employed to try and mitigate challenges, for instance, moving to teach online, pen and paper distance education, catch-up programs, and weekend school lessons.

King David High School Principal, Lorraine Srage has paid tribute to the school’s matriculants and the teaching staff for their outstanding results.

The release dates have been delayed due to the knock-on effects of Covid-19 pandemic disruptions, but universities have made means to accommodate this cohort of learners that will be entering tertiary education for the first time.
