There are 50 registered and accredited public TVET Colleges in South Africa which operate around campuses spread across the rural and urban areas of the country. Public TVET Colleges are established and operated under the authority of the Continuing Education and Training Act 16 of 2006 and resort under the Department of Higher Education and Training. Public TVET Colleges are subsidised by the state with approximately R8 billion per year.

2. Ekurhuleni East TVET College

Ekurhuleni East TVET College (EEC) is located in five towns of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM). These are Springs, Kwa-Thema, Daveyton, Benoni and Brakpan. There are however six college sites that are spreading across the five towns. These sites comprise of five campuses offering mainly NCV and Report 191 programmes while the sixth one is a centre of specialisation.

3. Ekurhuleni West TVET College

Ekurhuleni West Technical, Vocational, Education and Training College (EWC) is a public institution regulated by the FET Colleges Act no 16 of 2006, as amended. It was established in terms of the Further Education and Training Act, Act No .98 of 1998, declared as such by the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education (Gauteng Province) in terms of a Provincial Gazette Extraordinary (dated 7 December 2001).

5. South West Gauteng TVET College

South West Gauteng College is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), formerly, FET college, operating under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in terms of the Continuing Education and Training Act, Act No.16 of 2006, as amended. The College is accredited by Umalusi and several Sector Education and Training Authorities (Seta’s) to offer education and training, mostly in the FET band (NQF Level 2 to 4).

6. Tshwane North TVET College

Tshwane North Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College (TNC), is situated in the Greater Tshwane Metropolis of Gauteng.

It consists of a Corporate Office situated in the inner city of Pretoria and campuses, namely Mamelodi, Pretoria, Temba, Rosslyn, Soshanguve South and Soshanguve North. The Campuses are within a radius of 50 kilometres from the Central Office. Temba Campus being the furthest and Pretoria Campus a mere 5 km away.

7. Tshwane South TVET College

Tshwane South TVET College (TSC) is a registered public Technical and Vocational Education and Training College in terms of the Continuous Education Training Act (CET Act No.16 of 2006). TSC is a merger of three former Technical Colleges namely Atteridgeville, Centurion and Pretoria West, as Gazetted in 2001(Notice 7311, Gazette No 240 of December 2001). In 2006, TSC gained its fourth Campus (Odi Campus) from the Orbit TVET College as a result of the rezoning of the Provincial borders.

9. Coastal TVET College

This college is a merger of the former Durban Technical College, Swinton Road Technical College and Umlazi Technical College. It includes former Umbumbulu and Appelsbosch Colleges of Education. It is the largest College in KwaZulu-Natal, currently averaging about 15 000 full-time equivalents and about 800 staff members.

10. Elangeni TVET College

Elangeni TVET College is a Technical and Vocational Education and Training institute. Situated in and around Durban, KwaZulu Natal. We provide higher education learning supported by the South African Department of Higher Education and Learning. We also approved by the South African Bureau of Standards.

16. Umfolozi TVET College

uMfolozi TVET College is one of 9 public Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET) Colleges in the province of KwaZulu-Natal and one of only 50 in the country. 18. Boland TVET College

Boland College, as a rural-based college, consists of five campuses, namely Caledon, Paarl, Stellenbosch, Strand and Worcester with its Head Office in Stellenbosch. Before the amalgamation took place, four of these campuses were independent, competing colleges, each with a long and proud tradition of quality education and results and a certain degree of autonomy. The amalgamation process was completed in 2001, and a fifth campus was opened in Caledon in January 2002.

The King Hintsa TVET College is a merger of former Centane Technical College, Teko Technical College, H.B. Tsengwa Technical College and Idutywa Satellite formerly known as Idutywa Community College. It was established in 2002 through the merger of the former Tosa Technical College and the Welkom College. It was then named the Goldfields TVET College, after a region of the Free State Province that is renowned for its gold deposits and mining activities.

39. Sekhukhune TVET College

Nkangala Further Education and Training College was formed in 2003 with the merger of Witbank, Middelburg, Mpondozankomo, and CN Mahlangu campuses (formerly Technical Colleges) in Nkangala region.

Gert Sibande TVET College was established in 2002 as a result of the merging of the Technical Colleges of Ermelo, Evander and Standerton.
