SECOND YEAR and onwards of the Masters degree

 Students from the SECOND YEAR of the degree apply for a Progress Bursary. Attach this prescribed Progress Report template – to be completed by your Study leader

Note to all students:

  • If you did not previously receive a Masters bursary, you must attach the Progress Report AND the academic script of the preceding qualifying degree
  • Incomplete applications are invalid and may lead to disapproval of the application
  • All fields are compulsory

NWU Postgraduate Academic Merit Bursary

 APPLICATION FORM:     Academic Merit.
Students from other Universities: These students must apply annually on the prescribed application form. This bursary is automatically calculated for North-West University students only.
The NWU Postgraduate Bursary and Academic Merit Bursary are two separate bursaries.

Master’s and Doctoral Bursaries:   31 March 2021

Mining Qualifications Authority Bursary Scheme intake

The MQA would like to invite learners who intend on studying towards a career within the Mining and Minerals Sector, to apply for an MQA bursary. The MQA Bursary Scheme is open to qualifying learners who are currently in Grade 12 and who intend to study during 2021 or current students who are already studying towards a certificate, diploma, degree at a public university, university of technology or a TVET College.

DSI CSIR Inter-bursary Support Programme (IBS)

The CSIR and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) are pleased to announce the DSI CSIR Inter-bursary Support Programme (IBS) call for applications.

Opening Date: Wednesday, 23 September, 2020

Closing Date: Friday, 23 October, 2020

Late applications will not be considered.

The IBS postgraduate bursary support is intended for students approved for- or registered for full time studies for Honours/ 4th year Engineering/BTech/Advanced Diploma, Masters or PhD degrees at any South African public university. The focus areas for the bursary support are restricted to the following research areas:

Please make sure that you log in with the Firefox browser. Complete the online application form and submit with the required documents to your campus of registration:
  • The academic record attached should be the FINAL RECORD of the preceding degree with a PASS result.
  • Apply irrespective if you have been approved by the faculty. If declined by the faculty, the bursary will be cancelled.
