Since the introduction of the SASSA SRD R350 grant, some payment options are available for use by applicants.

Today, we look at various payment methods or options available for applicants to choose from depending on their needs and convenience.

SASSA SRD R350 Payment Methods

When the grant was first introduced in May 2020, the only option available then was Post Office Payments, but later they added bank account and wallet or Cash Send through partnered banks, at the moment post office is no longer a payment method for R350 Grant.

Ewallet or Cash Send Payment Option

This is for those who do not have a bank account or do not want to go to the post office to collect their grants.

SASSA has some partnerships with some selected banks and when an applicant chooses this option, his account number becomes the phone number that should have been RICA’ed or registered in the applicant’s name.

There are various payment methods for you to choose from when it comes to collecting your Sassa R350 grant.

As for what the SRD grant payment dates are, Sassa has emphasised that there is no set R350 grant payment date and that beneficiaries will be paid for the months they qualify. SRD grant payments are not done on days when other SASSA grant payments are done.

Bank account

One of the ways in which you can receive your R350 grant is through a bank account. SASSA recommends this payment method the most as it seems to be the most convenient.

SASSA has said that once you submit your application and choose this as your payment method, you submit your banking details as part of your application process. This would make paying your R350 grant easier and faster. You will then be able to withdraw your R350 at any ATM.

CashSend Services

Should you not have a bank account, you can also receive your R350 grant through a CashSend.

This sees beneficiaries use their ID numbers and phone numbers to access their grant money. You must have a cellphone with a registered cellphone number and proof of identification.

Checkers, PicknPay & Boxer Stores

In trying to find more ways for beneficiaries to collect their grant and to make SASSA grant payments easier, SASSA announced that beneficiaries can access their grant by visiting a Checkers, Boxer or PicknPay store. You will not be able to collect your grants at BP Pick n Pay Express, Pick n Pay Clothing and Pick n Pay Liquor stores.

Beneficiaries need to wait for an SMS saying that their grant is ready for collection before heading to the store.

Shoprite Group

The Shoprite Group has now made it possible for R350 grant holders to fetch their SRD grant payments at any of their 1 286 supermarkets across South Africa, which includes Checkers, USave, OK and Shoprite stores.

You would need to provide your ID and cellphone number. Beneficiaries need to ensure that this must be the same cellphone number that they used to register on the Sassa database, as a confirmation pin will be sent to this number to prevent fraud.
