How long does it take for SASSA a payment to reflect in my account?

SASSA will deposit your R350 grant into your account after your R350 grant application has been approved for that month.

Your application details will be checked to see if you still qualify for the grant before SASSA authorizes your application for payment.

What Is My SRD Grant Payment Amount Going to Be This Month?

There have been rumours going around claiming that the SRD grant amount will be increased to R550 and some saying R624, well, that’s fake news.

SASSA has disputed all the payment increase rumours and reiterated that the COVID-19 SRD grant payment amount remains at R350 per person, for each month a beneficiary qualifies for.

If you have any pending amount due from the previous months you have applied for, it will be paid separately. This means that payment will be done in R350 single payments, no one will receive R700 or whatever amount due all at the same time.

Where Can I Change My Bank Account for A Grant Payment?

Beneficiaries can update their banking details on the SRD website, scroll down to the ‘How do I change my banking details’, enter your ID number, and click on submit. You will receive an SMS with a link to update your banking details, click on the link and carefully follow the instructions to complete your bank account update.

SASSA urges R350 beneficiaries not to repeatedly change their banking detail on the SRD website as the account will have to be verified each time a change is made, potentially delaying the issuing of payment.

It is recommended that clients open their own bank account with any institution of their choice as it will enable them to take ownership of their grant and collection.

What Are the Different Types of Payment Methods Can I Choose From?

Payment options for applicants/beneficiaries with an “approved” status and a payment date have been enhanced. It is up to the beneficiaries to select the payment method that is more convenient for them.

Here Are the Available Payment Options for SASSA SRD R350 Grant:

R350 Grant Payment via Bank Account

This is by far the most recommended payment method as it is convenient and more secure, one can be assured that their grant money will be deposited into their bank account.

You will have to make sure that the number used, and banking details provided during the application process belong to you as SASSA will not be making payments to bank accounts that don’t match the name of the applicant.

Citizens who do not have bank accounts are encouraged to open one. There are numerous entry-level, low-cost choices on the market, some of which may be opened online.

R350 Grant Collection at Retail Stores

The grant is also available for collection at the following merchants/retail outlets; Checkers, Usave, Shoprite, Pick ‘n Pay or Boxer store.

Once your grant payment is ready for collection you will be notified via SMS (a withdrawal confirmation message will be sent to the number you used when applying).

For collection, you will be expected to have your Identity Document and cell phone with you.

SASSA Social Grants Payment Methods

SASSA has collaborated with supermarkets such as Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Shoprite to provide beneficiaries with other options of receiving grant payments. You can also get your grant from an ATM by using your card.

Payment can also be collected at the Post Office or at SASSA-provided stations in some localities.

All beneficiaries can use the SASSA/SAPO card at any retail outlet or bank ATM. Clients can either withdraw the cash they require or use the card to purchase goods. Balances left on the card are safe and can be accessed whenever required. There is no need to withdraw all the cash at once.

Can I Get Cash Payments for My Grant?

Yes, you may receive your grant payment in cash if you choose the collection payment option. You will receive the cash payment through the authorized payment points and the Post office. You will have to provide your ID and pin to receive the cash due to you.

At the beginning of August 2022, SASSA had already received just under 12 million applications, it is believed that with the updated regulations, a greater number of applicants will qualify for the grant.

Due to the amended regulations, clients do not need to resubmit responses to screening questions every three months.
