Annually, close to 50 000 students obtain certificates, diplomas, and degrees from Unisa. Things have been a bit rocky at the mega-university as students are experiencing challenges that could lead to them not continuing with their studies.

Unisa students allege that they have been waiting for their marks for months after they had already submitted their portfolios.

This will then result in the students either not graduating or not being able to continue with their respective course.

Sameera Hajat said after submitting her portfolio, she received confirmation, however, she later received news that she had been absent for an exam.

She was not the only student in this situation, as they collectively wrote to their lecturer, who hasn’t yet responded to Hajat until this day.

Hajat shared that she has been trying to reach different employees of the university, including the Student Representative Council.

A group of KZN students had been alleged to have plagiarised in a Unisa exam and the university students had to respond to the allegations leveled against them within five working days.

From there, no one has received any response from Unisa in regard to the issue.

A former student of the university, Kholofelo Masango shared a dilemma that she faces during job searches, stating that she does not have her completed status yet because there’s one outstanding module that needs to be marked.
